No bells, no whistles, just facts
Friendly staff greeted us upon arrival, and the location is perfect for exploring. Our room was clean with a nice balcony view, but the bathroom felt a tad outdated. Breakfast options were delightful and substantial. Take note, there are some quirks with room design that could be better thought out.

Beautiful traditional decor and friendly staff.
The breakfast was absolutely dismal, consisting of a single slice of bread and minimal fruit. I had to keep asking for basic items like more jam, which was extremely frustrating. The rigid dining policy meant I had to order everything at check-in, and it felt overly controlling, making me feel unwelcome during my stay.

Couple retreat that packs a punch
We had this amazing welcome tea with snacks when we checked in, it was just this little touch that made us feel like VIPs. And the food, man, the kaiseki dinner was sooo detailed, each dish had a story, and you could taste the effort that went into it.
It wasn’t exactly budget-friendly. but you know, it was acceptable for what we got.

My stay at Honjin Hiranoya Annex was exceptional, featuring a beautiful Japanese-style standard room with a stunning river view. The location was perfect, just steps away from all the key attractions and the mornings market. I particularly enjoyed the onsen experience on the top floor, which offered a relaxing ambiance and top-notch amenities. The staff was attentive, providing excellent service during my stay and assisting with transportation arrangements to the bus terminal.
Limited access to the onsen before checkout.

Magical, magical, magical.
I had such a magical stay! The views from my Japanese-Style Superior Room River View were just amazing, with the tranquil river flowing right outside my window. The staff elevated the experience. They surprised us daily with delicious tea and even offered to dress us in traditional outfits to wander the town in style!
